# Emails and Slack by Voice

Dictate professional emails and casual Slack messages without switching your approach — klarvoice adjusts the tone based on context.

## Why voice is good for written communication

Most people speak faster than they type. For messages longer than two or three sentences, dictating saves significant time.

## Context Mode adjusts tone automatically

App detected | Tone applied | Example adjustment
--- | --- | ---

Email client (Mail, Outlook, Gmail) | Formal, complete sentences | Contractions expanded, full punctuation

Slack, Teams, Discord | Casual, conversational | Shorter sentences, natural rhythm retained

No specific context | Neutral | Transcribed as spoken, minimal adjustments

## Same input, different outputs

You say: *"Hey just checking if you had a chance to look at the doc I sent last week — no rush but would be helpful to know before the meeting"*

- **In email:** "Hi, I just wanted to check whether you had a chance to review the document I sent last week. No rush, but it would be helpful to know before our meeting."
- **In Slack:** "Hey, just checking if you had a chance to look at the doc I sent last week — no rush, but would be helpful to know before the meeting."

## Tips for emails

- Dictate the subject line separately from the body — click into the subject field first, record, then click into the body field.
- Say *"new paragraph"* when you want a paragraph break in longer emails.
- End with your sign-off out loud: *"Best regards, [your name]."*
- Use the Precision model for formal or external emails where accuracy matters most.

## Tips for Slack and chat

- Keep recordings short — one message per recording gives cleaner output.
- The Speed model is a good default for Slack where turnaround time matters more than perfection.

> Tip: If Context Mode is not detecting your app correctly, you can manually set the context type in the klarvoice menu before recording.
