# Build Your Dictionary

Teach klarvoice your technical terms, names, and abbreviations.

## Why a Custom Dictionary?

klarvoice already knows hundreds of thousands of words. But your specialized vocabulary — product names, internal abbreviations, or colleague names — may be misrecognized at first. The dictionary teaches klarvoice these terms.

## Adding Terms

1. Open **Settings → Dictionary**.
2. Click **New Entry**.
3. On the left, enter how the word is **spoken** (e.g., "kates").
4. On the right, enter the **correct spelling** (e.g., "K8s" or "Kubernetes").
5. Click **Save** — the term is recognized immediately.

## Examples of Good Entries

Spoken | Written | Category
--- | --- | ---

kates | K8s | Tech abbreviation

Jira | Jira | Product name

Doctor Smith | Dr. Smith | Name

sequel | SQL | Tech abbreviation

postgrass | Postgres | Tech term

## Tips for an Effective Dictionary

- **Start small:** Add the 10–20 terms that are most frequently misrecognized first.
- **Think phonetically:** In the "Spoken" field, write how you actually pronounce the word.
- **Maintain regularly:** When you notice a new misrecognition, add it right away.
- **Case matters:** klarvoice uses the exact spelling from your dictionary entry.

> **Tip:** You can export and import your dictionary as a CSV file — handy if you use klarvoice on multiple devices or want to share terms with colleagues.
