# Ask Mode

Ask questions by voice and get instant answers with sources — right on your desktop.

## What is Ask Mode?

Ask Mode is an AI assistant built directly into klarvoice. Press a shortcut, ask a question by voice — and get an answer with sources, without opening a browser or switching apps.

## Activating Ask Mode

1. Open klarvoice settings via the menu bar icon.
2. Go to **Hotkeys**.
3. Assign a dedicated shortcut to **Ask Mode** (e.g. `AltGr` or another free key).

## How It Works

1. **Press the shortcut** — the Ask window opens on your desktop.
2. **Ask your question** — just speak it out loud.
3. **Get your answer** — the answer appears instantly, including source references.

## Follow-up Questions

You can ask follow-up questions directly in the Ask window. Simply hold the assigned shortcut and keep talking. The context of your previous question is preserved, so you can have a natural conversation.

## Source References

Every answer shows you the sources where the information comes from. Click a source to open it in your browser and verify the information yourself.

## Typical Use Cases

- **Quick fact-checking:** "What is the capital of Kazakhstan?"
- **Calculations:** "What is 18 times 18?"
- **Definitions:** "What does congruence mean in mathematics?"
- **Translations:** "How do you say 'meeting' in French?"
- **General knowledge:** "When was the Berlin Wall built?"

> **Tip:** Ask Mode is perfect for quick questions in between tasks. For longer research or complex tasks, we still recommend specialized tools.
